My foster mom named me Sapphire because she said I was like a precious gem. My nickname, though, is Sassy because I am SUCH a Sassy Cat!

My foster mom found me in the yard one day, skinny and looking for help. I was nursing my kittens, and my foster mom found them in a neighbor's woodpile. I had been going back and forth every day past the neighbor's cat-hating dog in order to find food so I could feed my babies.

My foster parents took us all in, and you can see Nod and Blinken here on PetFinder.

I'm a rare female ginger cat. That's my color--ginger, or marmalade, or officially red, but I am brilliant orange, aren't I? Most cats my color are male, only 20% of orange tabbies (or ginger tabbies as we're called in Britain) are female. I'm valuable and I like that.

I like to supervise, and I'd prefer to be an only cat. I've had it with being mom all the time. I tolerate all the other cats at my foster home very well, but basically, I just avoid them. Well, except for Nod and Blinken, sometimes I play with them, but I'm just as likely to slap them away.

I love to play. I like to leap up and catch dangly toys the best. I love to be petted, and sit on your lap or be carried around and just petted and loved.

Now here's where the sassy part comes in. When you're done petting, I may not be done with you--and I'll grab your hand and hold onto you. I also get sassy when you displease me. I'm an independent woman and I know what I like and don't like. I don't like my teeth brushed and my claws clipped and I'll tell you about it.

But for the most part, I just want to sit in a sunny window, get some love and play time, and have regular meals.

You can see by my photos that I was a really good mother, but now it's time for Sapphire, the rare female ginger cat, to have some "me" time. I'd love a family that could spend some time with me, but it doesn't have to be a lot of time. I'm okay with you going off to work, as long as I have a window where I can watch the world go by.

Would you like a sassy cat to come and live with you? You can visit me at my foster home. Just send an email to: adoptme@happycatadoptions.org and make an arrangement to stop by and see the freckled wonderful beauty that is me. I know we'll fall in love.
